Police have launched a murder investigation after a man was shot dead on a busy road in London.
The man believed to be in his late 20s is the second person to be fatally shot in the capital this weekend.
Armed officers and emergency services rushed to the scene on Lea Bridge Road in Leyton around 3am on Sunday.
Paramedics battled to save his life, but he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
A Met Police spokeswoman said: ‘Next of kin are yet to be informed. Formal identification has not taken place.
‘A post-mortem examination will be held in due course.
‘A second man, aged in his 20s, is being treated at an east London hospital for non-life threatening injuries.’
This comes after a man in his mid-20s was killed following a shooting near a mosque in Wembley on Friday evening.
On Saturday a man, also in his 20s, was shot in close to the Kensal Rise Tube station in Brent.
He suffered gunshot injuries to his arm but is in a stable condition.
